Government Day To Day

Everyday Americans see government affect their day to day lives. We see government in the minor issues like when we can drink and where we can drink. We also see government when we going driving the laws that we have to obey. Even the taxes we pay on products is a part of government. Government is a part of everyday life from when we wake up to what schools we attend.

Medical Marijuana

View on Medical Marijuana
- My groups view on medical marijuana is that it should be legalized in the United States. The benefits of marijuana outweigh the effects that are caused by the drug. Scientists agree that legally prescribed drugs are more harmful then marijuana. Even without the medical benefits making the drug legal would bring in billions of tax dollars plus it would eliminate the small drug dealers who are just selling marijuana. The drug has more benefits then it does side effects.

School Decision
-High Tech High International decision is to legalize marijuana.

Pros
- The benefits it provides to patients who are suffering form illness.
- Would bring in billions of dollars into the economy

Cons
-Causes lack of motivation
-Might cause young kids to do more drugs.

Green Party

1. History of the party
The history of the party was formed as an anti-party party system. Their goal wasn't in winning elections but instead putting on educational projects and non-partisan activism. It wasn't until 1991 when they decided to run for elections when they were taken over by new management.

The Issues

  • 1. Abortion

Abortion is an important issue but its not number on my list. I think their are other issue more pressing then abortion but my stance on abortion is that its the women's choice and their should be no law against a women's right to choose. If the mother of the child doesn't want the child then she should have the right to make that decision.

2.Afghanistan

On Afghanistan the issue stands on the top ten of my list of issues. I think we the owe the people Afghanistan a peaceful country. When the Russians were invade the country we helped them get rid of the Russians but we didn't do anything afterwards to help the country get back on their feet.

3.Cuba

Isn't that important of an issue to me. I think that the embargo on Cuba is a thing of the past just like the cold war. The only thing that the embargo is doing is preventing American citizens form traveling to Cuba but American business are still able to do business with Cuba.

4.Economic Stimulus

Is on the my top ten list with Afghanistan. During this time especially the economy is an important issue that needs to be fixed. The Bush years haven't brought economic growth nor has having no regulation.

5. Education

Education is on my top ten even might be my number one issue. I think the American Education system has suffered. We need to revamp the way teachers are teaching the students and provide funding for updated school supplies.

6.Energy

The United States has been depending far too much on foreign oil. With the threat of global warming the United States needs to start funding money into alternative fuels suck as solar and wind.

7. Environment

The environment is an important issue i think that the government should regulate the amount of green house gasses that companies regulate.

8.Free Trade

I don't much about free trade so I don't feel comfortable talking about it because its not an issue am comfortable with at all.

9. Guns

The issue with gun control is that too many people are getting their hands on fire arms and causing an incredible amount of damage. I think that the government needs to have more regulation on who is getting more fire arms and what kind of fire arms can you purchase.

10. Health care

I think that health care is a very important issue that needs to be addressed by both democrats and Republicans so that they can reach decision that help benefit the million of Americans who are plagued by the issue. I think the solution can be reached by having a socialized system like in Europe would work.

11. Homeland Security

I think that the way we conduct our war on terror is completely wrong we need to stop treating the problem with military strength and use other resource such as building schools and fighting the terrorism by not giving them reasons to hate us.

12. The Housing Crises

Like the issue of free trade I don't know much about the housing market all i know is that its not doing so well.

13. Immigration

When it comes to the issue of immigration I think over a longer serious of time we should help the countries out. For a short term solution we need to help those that are here and help because they do provide to the economy.

14. Iran

The situation with Iran when it all comes down to it the leaders are talking the talk but they wont walk the walk. All it takes is the United States to sit down with the leaders of Iran that they cant enrich uranium and find a solution that all can agree on.

15. Iraq

With Iraq we need work with leaders in the area and find a way to make the three state solution a possible idea and action before the country tears itself apart.

16. Israel

With situatioln with Israel is that they are only ally in the middle east. Even if they commit band things they are doing but they are only ally in the middle east.

17. Gay Marriage

With the issue of Gay Marriage I think that all the states should allow Gay Marriage in their states.

18. Russia

To deal with Russia the solution lays with having open talks and showing the Russian nation that having talks.

20. Social Security

With social Security to solve the issue it requires sitting down with both party leaders and discussing a solution.

21. Steam Cell

We should fund it.

22. Taxes

Make taxs equal by less taxes on the poor and more on the rich and those who can afford it.

Federalist Ten

1.What is a faction?

A group or clique within a larger group, party, government, organization, or the like: a faction in favor of big business.

2. Why our factions a problem in government?

The reasons that factions are a problem in government is split up into two groups it isn't as effective as many other parties that can allow for different types of ideas. Because the Constitution was meant to stop form having two major parties.

3.What are the two ways to block faction in government?
Their are two ways to stop faction first is to remove the cause of faction which would mean getting rid of liberty. Which Madison deemed impossible. The other solution is to to control the effect of factions.

4.Curing Faction
By controlling it.

5.Why does pure democracy have no cure?
The reason that pure democracy have no cure is that if an opinion is felt by the majority then it will pass no matter what. Madison is for a majority rule is leaders are involved but with the direct democracy you cant trust the people.

7.How will having leaders help cure factions?
Because they have to win over people to control the government. Not only do the leaders have to appeal to the larger bases they also have to appeal to the smaller bases to win. Unlike people who just have to join the larger to base to win.

8. What is a republic?
Its a system of government where a handful of people are in charge of the government.

9. Republic Pure Democracy?

A republic does a better job since its a select few and they can range form many different points of view thous limiting the amount of factions. Unlike a pure democracy where it goes straight form the people to the government. A larger democracy does a better job cause its harder to bribe a large crowd then a smaller one.

Party Lines

1st Quiz
The quiz said that I was a liberal. I don't disagree with that because the questions that were being asked where about current issues that I happen to have a liberal bias towards. If it were on general opinions held by different parties I think I would have a completely different answer then the one that was just stated.
2 Quiz
The quiz was on a map and it said that I was close to FDR and Rev. Jesse Jackson. I don't really know what to say to this one.
3 Quiz
The last quiz said that I would associate myself with the green party. I don't disagree with this conclusion my ideas on issue fall in line with those of the green party.

An Effective PSA

An effective P.S.A is one that effects all people. A good P.S.A is one that inspires someone to take action for the cause that they want someone to fight for. A good P.S.A doesn't have to say much to get the point through. A well done P.S.A keeps the viewer thinking about it after the clip has been over and done with. An example of a good P.S.A is the rock the vote with the band playing. Its simple and doesn't say much but instead it use actors do get the point across.

What is an American?

What makes an American? Is it the ideas that hold like freedom. What separates an American form a European or and African? Nothing seprates all those terms are just for us to separate each other form one another. All that makes an American is that we were born in the United States but these that people say make an American are no different then those of a European or African.

Why Vote

Many Americans have lost the energy to go and participate in voting. Americans have felt that their vote doesn't count after the incident in Florida. When in fact your vote does count. When Americans do not paricipate in democracy you end up getting the results you dont want. When you do not participate you end with the George Bushs in the office. During this time when the United States is a tiping point you need vote because your vote counts.
